For partial shipments

Fulfill part of an order with separate tracking

Keep tracking attached to the items in each package when an order ships in more than one shipment.

Choose split fulfillment when items ship separately

Use order detail when only part of an order has shipped, or when different items use different carriers or tracking numbers. A bulk spreadsheet containing only an order number and tracking number does not say which items belong in each package.

Record the first package

  1. In Quick Fulfillment, open Orders and click the order number.
  2. Select only the complete remaining line items in this package. Each selected line fulfills all its remaining units. Leave other lines unselected; use Shopify admin to fulfill only some units of one line.
  3. Enter that package’s carrier and tracking number.
  4. Choose whether to notify the customer, then fulfill the selected items.
  5. Confirm the order is partially fulfilled and the correct items carry that tracking number in Shopify.
  6. Repeat for the remaining items when their package ships, using its own carrier and tracking number.

Example with two packages

After the first package, the shade remains unfulfilled. After the second, both items are fulfilled. Check each package in Shopify before sending customer notifications.

When a bulk file is appropriate

Use Bulk Upload when your supplier’s row describes the remaining items you intend to fulfill together. When its file describes separate item quantities or warehouses, review the order individually until you have confirmed the intended shipment.
